Cy Abdelnour
Cy Abdelnour, 64, of Holland, died on October 31, 2011, after a long illness.
Mr. Abdelnour was born on December 8, 1946, in Jacksonville, Florida, the son of Moses and Ollie (Abraham) Abdelnour. His father predeceased him.
Mr. Abdelnour attended Northeastern Oklahoma A&M College in Miami, Oklahoma, where he played football, and graduated from the University of Miami in Miami, Florida. He deeply enjoyed sharing his love of football with youth, and was head coach of the North Country Junior Falcons for many years.
Mr. Abdelnour’s professional life included 30 years as a social worker with the state of Vermont Department of Social and Rehabilitation Services (SRS, now DCF). He assisted many children and families in difficult situations. He spent the last years of his career with SRS as an adoption social worker.
He is survived by his wife, Ines Abdelnour, also of Holland; by his children: Scott Ponce and his wife, Ingrid, of Coral Gables, Florida, Allison Ponce and her husband, Thomas Bontly, of New Haven, Connecticut, and Thomas Abdelnour of Hartford, Connecticut; his grandchildren: Isabel and Elijah Ponce, and Adeline Bontly; his mother, Ollie Abdelnour, of Jacksonville, Florida; his brother, Thomas Abdelnour, of Ann Arbor, Michigan; his sister, Cynthia Ramski of Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida; and by nieces and nephews. He will be missed by his dear aunt, Ida Davis, of Jacksonville.
A private, family funeral will be held at the convenience of the family.

Roland A. Before
Roland A. Before, 88, formerly of Derby, died on November 3, 2011, at the Veterans Home in Bennington.
He was born on December 8, 1922, in Derby, a son of Edmund and Lumina (Labonte) Before.
He joined the U.S. Army in the mid-1940s and returned home to work for his father for over 30 years, and he was also a painter for about the same amount of time in both Florida and Washington state.
In his later years, he enjoyed driving to Washington in the summer to visit two of his sisters, and stopping off in the fall, and then continuing on to Florida to spend the winter with family there. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 798 of Newport.
Mr. Before is survived by his brothers: Henry Before, and his wife, Marilyn, of Montana, and Vincent Before and his wife, Joyce, of West Burke; his sisters: Cecile Lebeau of Newport, Theresa Cox and her husband, Jim, and Carmen Harter, both of Spokane, Washington, and Rita Riley of Florida; and by several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a sister, Josephine, and by an infant sister.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, November 10, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Newport. Interment will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery.

Terrence F. “Terry” Burdick
Terrence F. “Terry” Burdick, 59, of Derby died on November 1, 2011, at his home, surrounded by his loving family.
Mr. Burdick was born May 26, 1952, in Newport to Willard and Marjorie (Noe) Burdick. He graduated from Lake Region Union High School and continued his education at the University of Vermont and Vermont Technical College. Mr. Burdick worked for many years at The Landing Restaurant. At the time of his death, he was employed at Coldwell Banker All Seasons Realty and Belisle-Viens Associates and served on the board of directors of the Northern New England Real Estate Network. He was the association executive and treasurer for the Orleans County Board of Realtors. Mr. Burdick was very proud to be a member of The Church of God. He was awarded his third degree black belt in Tae Kwon Do on May 21, 2011. Mr. Burdick was also awarded Newport Chamber of Commerce’s “Man of the Year” award in 1987. He was appointed to serve on the Travel and Recreation Council in 1987 by Governor Madeline Kunin. He was awarded Realtor of the Year in 1995, 1999, and 2008.
Besides his wife of 27 years, Tracey Coburn-Burdick, he is survived by his two daughters and his son: Danielle and her husband, Lars, of Winooski, and Melissa and Jaden of Derby; two granddaughters: Annika and Stella Murdock; his mother, Marjorie Burdick; his brother, Everett Burdick and his wife, Cora, of Albany; his twin brother, Lawrence Burdick and his wife, Gertrude, of Orleans; his sister-in-law, Susan Burdick of Brownington; his sister-in-law, Sharon Morin and her husband, Michael, of Florida; his sister-in-law, Lori Coburn Webb and her husband, Michael, of New Hampshire; his sister-in-law, Jennifer Roy of Newport; his mother-in-law Paula Conover and her husband, Peter, of Newport; his mother-in-law Velma Coburn of Newport; and by many nephews and nieces. He was predeceased by his father, Willard; his sisters: Christine and Patricia; his brothers: Bernard and Edwin; his father-in-law, Duane Coburn; and by his brother-in-law Rene Cote.
Calling hours will be held on Thursday, November 10, from 5 to 8 p.m. at Curtis-Britch-Converse-Rushford Funeral Home, 4670 Darling Hill Road, in Newport. A celebration of Mr. Burdick’s life will be held on Friday, November 11, at 3 p.m. at The Church of God, 295 Crawford Road in Derby.

Richard F. Croudis
Richard F. Croudis, 94, of Auburn, Maine, died on Saturday, October 29, 2011, at Clover Manor Health Care in Auburn with his loving family at his side.
Mr. Croudis was born in Yarmouth, Maine, July 21, 1917, a son of the late William F. and Elizabeth E. (Ordway) Croudis. He attended local schools graduating from North Yarmouth Academy in 1935. He then attended Boston University graduating in 1948, receiving his bachelor of arts degree in music.
He was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army having served his country from 1942 to 1945 during WWII in north Africa and Italy. After returning from the war, he married the love of his life, Lillian Denham, on May 18, 1946. They then made their home in Newport where he worked in the school system as a music teacher. He was an active member of the United Church of Newport where he also served as its choir director. Mr. Croudis was a member of the American Legion Post 21 of Vermont, the longest and oldest serving member of the Newport Rotary Club, the director of The North Country Music Festival in Newport for several years, and a member of the Vermont Music Educators. In his spare time, Mr. Croudis loved camping.
Mr. Croudis is survived by his daughter, Catherine Croudis, of Lewiston, Maine; his nephews: John Wallace, Richard Dunham, David Preble, and Jeffrey Preble; and his nieces: Denise Ireland and Eileen Horton. Besides his parents he was predeceased by his wife of 58 years, Lillian, and his brother, Bernard Croudis.
A committal service was held November 5 in Yarmouth. Memorial services will be held at the United Church of Newport on November 20 at 1 p.m. Donations in Mr. Croudis’ name may be made to the Scholarship Fund at the Newport Rotary, P.O. Box 166, Newport, Vermont 05855.

Lillian Anna Eastman
Lillian Anna Eastman, 88, of Newport died on November 3, 2011, in Derby, surrounded by her loving family.
She was born August 8, 1923, in Newport Center, a daughter of Richard and Gertrude (Hazard) Smith. On October 31, 1959, she married Mahlon “Red” Eastman who predeceased her on December 24, 1998.
Before moving to Vermont, she and her late husband lived in Hudson, Massachusetts, where she was employed by Koehler MFG. She was a former member of the Eagles Club in Hudson. She loved her cats and she enjoyed crocheting and attending the Seventh Day Adventist Church.
She is survived by her children: Kathleen Bowen and her husband, Winston, of Derby, Carolin McCarthy and her husband, Raymond, of Derby, and Willard Armstrong of Waltham, Massachusetts; 12 grandchildren, six stepgrandchildren, and by several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a daughter, Joyce, at the age of one; by two brothers: Elmer and Earl Smith; and by several stepsisters and stepbrothers.
Funeral services were held on November 8 in Newport. Interment followed in Newport Center Cemetery.

Wayne Lawson
Wayne Lawson died on Monday, October 31, 2011.
Born and raised in Vermont, Mr. Lawson graduated from Lyndon State College, Champlain College, and served in the U.S. Navy in his younger years. Mr. Lawson was a happy soul who laughed and enjoyed Thanksgiving dinners. He was a family man dedicated to his work and golf. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends and will never be forgotten.
He is survived by his wife, Kitima; his son Christopher of South Burlington; and his daughter Keri Ann of Saratoga Springs, New York.
Funeral services were held on November 4 in Burlington. Interment followed at the Coventry Village Cemetery in Coventry, with military honors.

Paul Joseph Leclerc
Paul Joseph Leclerc, 84, of Island Pond, formerly of North Andover, Massachusetts, died on October 31, 2011, in Newport.
He was born February 28, 1927, in Lowell, Massachusetts, a son of Arthur and Bertha (Auger) Leclerc. He married Beverly Jerdrone, in 1956, who survives him. He was a veteran of World War II and a graduate of a Lowell trade school. He was employed by General Electric for 24 years as a Heliarc welder. He enjoyed singing in choirs and was a member of the Lowell Opera Company for many years. He loved sailing with his 25-foot sailboat, camping with his family and building model airplanes.
He is survived by his wife, Beverly Leclerc, of Island Pond; by his children: Richard Paul Leclerc and his wife, Donna, of Methuen, Massachusetts, Robert Charles Leclerc of Salem, New Hampshire, Paula Marie Coates and her husband, William, of Island Pond, and Carol Ann Leclerc of Island Pond; by his grandchildren: Damian, Derek, Matthew, Benjamin, Catherine, Andrew, Callen and Joshua; by his two great-grandchildren: Zachary and Alea; by his brother Joseph Leclerc and his wife, Anne, of Connecticut; and by several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two sisters: Annette Chaput and Lucille Aubin.
Funeral services were held on November 4 in Island Pond. Interment followed in Lakeside Cemetery in Island Pond.

Romeo Leon Myott
Romeo Leon Myott, 82, of Westfield died on November 4, 2011, at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, New Hampshire.
Mr. Myott was born June 27, 1929, in Montgomery Center, the eldest son of Leon and Lizzie (Domina) Myott. He enlisted in the Army and later the Air Force where he served following World War II in Germany and received an honorable discharge. On February 3, 1951, he married Marion Willis. He worked as superintendent at the Vermont Asbestos Group in Lowell for 36 years and continued working in drilling and blasting until retiring in 2008. He also served as a volunteer fireman in Troy and was a member of the First Congregational Church of Westfield, and the Masonic Union Lodge #16 Free and Accepted Masons in Troy. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, and playing weekly poker games at the Westfield Senior Center.
He is survived by his wife, Marion, with whom he shared 60 wonderful years of marriage; his son, Steven Myott, of Westfield; his grandchildren: Caleb Myott and his wife, Jennifer, of Kernersville, North Carolina, Lia Myott Gilleski and her husband, Daniel, of New Bern, North Carolina, and Michael Luke Myott of Wilmington, North Carolina; and by his great-grandchildren: Juna Mikayla, Macy, and Mia Myott, and Evan Charles Gilleski. He was predeceased by his three brothers and two sisters.
A private burial with full military honors will be held on Friday, November 11, in Westfield.
