BARTON — As the daughter of a veterinarian technician, Emily Knaggs, a senior at Lake Region Union High School, grew up with a particular empathy for injured animals.  Her big heart led her to become one of the state’s youngest practicing animal rehabilitators.  She has rescued all varieties of species, and this past Christmas, she took part in an unexpected mission to save some very lost creatures blown more than 200 miles in from sea on a winter wind.

In order to understand her role in that story however, it is important to understand first how Ms. Knaggs gained her experience and built a reputation as a person to call when animals need help….
