obit campbellFernand A. Campbell

Fernand A. Campbell, 83, of Orleans died on November 24, 2014, in Newport.

He was born on May 19, 1931, in Orleans, to Donat and Jeanne (Stewart) Campbell.

On September 6, 1958, he married Monique LeBlond, who predeceased him on July 5, 2011.

Mr. Campbell was born on the farm that he later owned and operated with his brother Raymond. Music was always such a big part of his life. He had a wonderful voice and played the guitar and a little piano. He always sang in the church choirs and would often sing solo. In his younger years, he had a small band and played music for weddings. In his later years he played music at area nursing homes. It was such a joy to hear him sing.

He was a member of the Knights of Columbus third Degree, and St. Theresa’s Catholic Church in Orleans.

When he retired from farming, he traveled to Florida with family and friends in motor homes for part of the winter. He enjoyed playing cards with his family and friends. He was hard to beat — he usually won. He loved all the family gatherings and visits.

After his wife died, he was cared for in his home by several caregivers. He was so pleased to be at home and he greatly enjoyed and appreciated his caregivers. He enjoyed them and cared about them.

He is survived by his children: Denise King and her husband, Wayne, of Williamstown, Carmen Riendeau and her husband, Reginald, of Orleans Louise Campbell and her husband, Norman Fortin, of Holland, and Francis Campbell and his companion, Rhonda Cole, of Newport Center; his 11 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; his brother Raymond Campbell of Orleans; and by several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held on November 28, in Orleans. Spring interment will be in St. Theresa’s Cemetery in Orleans.

obit CoulterFloyd R. Coulter

Floyd R. Coulter, 87, of Westfield died on November 24, 2014, at his home, surrounded by his loving family.

He was born on May 8, 1927, in Bennington, to Raymond and Rena (Montgomery) Coulter.

On November 26, 1949, he married Delpha Sheltra, who survives him.

Mr. Coulter was a veteran of World War II. During his lifetime, he was employed as a sander at Ethan Allen Manufacturing, where he was employed for 23 years.

He enjoyed playing cards, doing word books, watching the Red Sox with his wife, hunting, fishing, going for walks, and he enjoyed the company of his cats. His biggest joy was the various cars that he owned and giving them tender loving care.

He is survived by his wife, Delpha Coulter, of Westfield; his children: Susan Deuso and her husband, Dennis, of Montgomery Center, and Lynn Danforth and her husband, Rick, of Westfield; his grandchildren: Gerard Bouchard Jr. of Westfield, Christopher Bouchard of Richford, and Krystle Piette and her husband, Ross, of Essex; and by his great-grandchild Kaitlynn Bouchard of Westfield.

He was predeceased by his granddaughter Laurissa Bouchard.

A military graveside service will be held in the spring at the North Hill Cemetery in Westfield.

Raymond E. Gravel

Raymond E. Gravel, 76, of Wolcott died on Wednesday, November 26, 2014, at the University of Vermont Medical Center in Burlington.

He was born on August 31, 1938, in West Glover, son of Raymond Noel Gravel and Margaret Lussier Gravel.

He married Anna Rainville in Troy, in 1958.

He was employed by Pizzagalli Construction for nearly 40 years as a construction foreman. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Fr. Boivin Chapter, and had served as grand knight.

He enjoyed camping and his Yorkies. He liked to bowl in a local league with the Knights of Columbus and always looked forward to putting on his Fourth of July celebration at the family camp in North Wolcott.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Anna; their children: Daniel, Edmund, Francis and Bernice; grandchildren: Amanda, Dawn, Michael, Shawn, Dylan, Joshua, Sky, and Avery; several great-grandchildren; his siblings: Roland, Robert, Jane, Arline, Lucien, Paulette, Norman, Hazel, Deborah, Marcel, and Edward; and by numerous nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his parents; a son, Joseph; and by his sisters: Susan and Delores.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Saturday, December 6, at 1 p.m. at Holy Cross Church in Morrisville. Visitation will be held Friday, December 5 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Faith Funeral Home in Morrisville. Interment will be in Taylor Cemetery in Wolcott.

Joyce (Durgin) Butler Little

Joyce Little, 80 of Irasburg, beloved wife of Rudy Little, died peacefully on Wednesday morning, November 26, 2014, at her daughter Lynn’s home in Barre, after her courageous battle with cancer.

Her daughter and husband took very good care of her 24 hours a day after she was released from the hospital with Hospice care on October 28, 2014.

She was born to the late Earl and Bertha (Moulton) Durgin of West Charleston on August 11, 1934.

She loved to put puzzles together then donate them to the local nursing homes. She also loved to knit and make many, many mittens and hats for the local children who were in need, and for the WCAX-TV Channel 3 mitten tree.

She married Clayton W. Butler on October 20, 1952, where they lived in Albany.

She is survived by the five children they raised: Carol Currier and her husband, Colby, of Troy, Christine DeLaBruere and her husband, Gilles, of West Charleston, Clayton E. Butler of Irasburg, Anita Dion and her husband, David, of Irasburg, and Alan Butler and his wife, Darlene, of Irasburg.

Mr. Butler was struck with polio and died on November 29, 1965.

She then married Rudolph “Rudy” W. Little and they had just celebrated their forty-eighth wedding anniversary on November 4. Together they had a daughter, whom she is survived by: Lynn Carter and her husband, Arland, of Barre.

She also leaves behind 18 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren; her sisters: Dot Mason and her late husband, Larry, of Albany, Marjorie Annis and her late husband, Austin, of North Carolina, and half-sisters Rachel Williams of North Carolina, Carla Chadburn and her husband, Wayne, of Irasburg, and Gail Cook and her husband, Charlie, of Irasburg; one half-brother, Raymond Durgin, of Morgan; and a special sister-in-law, Patricia Little, and her husband, Stuart, of Irasburg.

She was predeceased by three infant sons: Ronald, Ricky, and Wilbur Little; her sisters: Norma Mathieu and her husband, Jack, Nancy Mathieu and her husband, Ben, and Doris Haddock and her husband, Charles; and by a brother, Durward Durgin, and his wife, Tootsie.

There will be no calling hours or services as requested by Ms. Little, and respected by her family.

This cancer clinic was like no other, they took such good care of her. Dr. Daniel Fram would call on a regular basis and ask how she was doing through her radiation treatments. They were very kind, sincere people and they allowed her special four-legged friend, Walker, to come with her to the clinic. They treated him like he was family, and that’s what he is.

obit ProvostRichard “Pinky” F. Provost

Richard “Pinky” F. Provost, 92, died at home on November 25, 2014.

He was born on September 29, 1922, at home in Derby, to Louis and Bertha (Couture) Provost.

He attended school in Stanstead, Quebec, and Derby. It was in graded school where he was given the nickname “Pinky.”

On August 27, 1947, at Sacre-Coeur-de-Jesus in Stanstead, he married Regina Ferland, who survives him. After 67 years of marriage he still said his marriage was the best decision in his life.

He lived in Derby, and operated Hillside Farm, which included the original family farm and expanded over the years with additional neighboring farms. He also owned and operated a fertilizer business. It was until his late eighties that he continued to manage his gravel pit business. Retirement also included the purchase of a home in Lake Worth, Florida, where family and friends were welcomed to visit, play cards, and enjoy wonderful hospitality.

Mr. Provost served on the Derby board of selectmen, the Agway board of directors, he was a member of the Elks, Le Club Canadien Francais de Lake Worth, and the Antique Car Club of Newport.

Mr. Provost took a great deal of pride in his collection of Farmall tractors, which are now housed in Paquette’s International Farmall Museum in Leesburg, Florida. He very much enjoyed driving his 1940 Packard, with “Pinky” on the license plate. He was also an extraordinary and witty raconteur. He shared his colorful stories until his final hours.

In addition to his wife, Regina, he is survived by eight children: Maurice “Moe” Provost and his partner, Joan Poutre, of Derby, Lise MacDonald and her husband, John MacDonald, of Swanton, Ginette Provost and her husband, Tom Cyr, of Derby, Nancy Moore and her husband, John Moore, of Derby, Pauline “Poe” Provost of Underhill, Sylvia Provost and her husband, Jim Henderson, of White River Junction, Suzanne Provost and her husband, David Benway, of Underhill, and Cecile Provost and her husband, Gary Sexton, of Jericho; his 12 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren; his sister Marguerite Smyrski of Montpelier; and by numerous sisters- and brothers-in-law, and nieces and nephews who enjoyed visiting their mon oncle Pinky.

He was predeceased by his son Henri Provost in 1981; his brothers: Roland, Romeo, Roger, George, and Paul; and by his sister Anita Curran.

Funeral services were held on November 29, in Derby. Burial followed at St. Edward’s Cemetery in Derby Line.

Audrie E. Wright

Audrie E. (Powers) Wright of Greensboro, formerly of Waterford, died on Tuesday, November 25, 2014, at the age of 85.

She was born in Waterford in October of 1929, the second youngest child of Glenn and Eva (Page) Powers. She graduated from St. Johnsbury Academy’s Class of 1947, and married Rolla Wright Jr. on her eighteenth birthday that year. They settled near their families’ farms in Waterford and together raised five children.

As a younger woman, Ms. Wright enjoyed reading, swimming, and fishing for brook trout. She and her husband taught their children to know and appreciate the wildflowers and animal life of the Northeast. Favorite places included the Old Swimming Hole beside the little red schoolhouse on Shadow Lake Road in Concord, Dodge Pond in Lyman, New Hampshire, and Long Sands Beach in York, Maine. Picnics, going out for ice cream, and listening to WSTJ and her favorite singer, Elvis Presley, created special memories. For many years she was an active member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church of St. Johnsbury.

She is survived by her children and their families: E. Lynne and her husband, Douglas Mitchell, of Fort Ann, New York, Kathryn Bennett of Hendersonville, North Carolina, Leonard and Lanette Wright of Danville, Lyle and Sheryl Wright of Princeton, West Virginia, and Amy Brill and Scott Brill of Sutton; her 13 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren; her sister and brother, Geneva Wright and Willard Powers, both of Waterford; and by many nieces and nephews.

Services will take place on Sunday, January 4, 2015, at 2 p.m. at the Guibord Funeral Home in Lyndonville.
