The Barre Crimson Tide rolled into Newport Saturday to wrap up the regular season against the Junior Falcon Football team.  The B team took the field and received the opening kick.  Action was slow in the first half, with only a few noticable plays.  Kevin Langtagne layed his shoulder down and leveled a Barre offenseive player.  When Barre decided to go for it on fourth down, Kyle Martin decided to also, coming down with the interception.  Braxton “Freight Train” Azur bowled over a player, knocking him clear out of his cleat, clearing the tracks for Falcons running back, Shawn Fearino, who scored the Falcons’ only touchdown of the game.  Azur then carried the ball over for the extra point. Barre scored opening the second half.  Play traveled back and forth, with both teams giving all they had.  It looked like the Falcons would score again when Jordan Carpenter ran the ball 28 yards before being tackled, but it was not to be.  The B team won their third straight game with a score of 7-6.  They finished the season with a 3 and 4 record.

The A team took the field in style all wearing pink socks, supplied by Coach Jacques Burnett, for Breast Cancer Awareness Month.  The scoring started early for the Falcons, with Cole Azur scoring one minute and 45 seconds into the game.  A few possessions later, Azur blasted a defender, opening a hole for Garrett Gile to score.  Picking up his own fumble Gile, crossed again followed by the plus two by Rian Hayman-Jones.  A fumbled ball, caused when two Falcons collided in the backfield, was handled by Rian Hayman-Jones who ran for 60 yards and the TD.  Alex Haugwitz found the gap and crossed for the extra point.  The Falcons scored again on a 30-yard pass to Cole Azur, he also gained the extra point.  With the Tide backed up in their own endzone, lineman Curtis Bowen, put his hands up in front of the pass, intercepting the ball and scoring the rare defensive touchdown.  The Falcons scored two more touchdowns before half time.  Following the break, the Falcons shook it up a bit with some players  trying out new positions.  Troy Sanville jumped on a loose ball as did Curtis Bowen.  Gile crossed the line for another Falcon touchdown and Azur was credited with an unassisted sack.  The final score was a crushing 52-0.  The A team will now focus on playoffs while the B team will go to Essex for the fall round-up Jamboree. — submitted by Eva Broome.
