Tamarack Programs works with addicted offenders

NEWPORT — The Tamarack Program —targeted at repeat offenders who may be driven by addiction — was rolled out statewide in July of 2017.  Two years later, though, it’s hard to say exactly how well it’s working because the impact it has on offenders is hard to quantify. “We don’t define the program’s success based upon whether or not someone completely quits using,” Orleans County State’s Attorney Jennifer Barrett said from a meeting room on the third floor of the Orleans County Superior Court building in Newport.
