NEWPORT — Newport City Police Sergeant Nicholas Rivers said when he spotted a parked truck near a house where people have been suspected of selling drugs, on April 22, he walked up to the driver’s side window. His affidavit says the truck’s driver, Jessica C. Prue, 43, of Sheffield was startled to see him.
Sergeant Rivers said he could easily see three used crack pipes and asked permission to search the truck. He said he told Ms. Prue that if she said he couldn’t perform a search he would impound the truck and seek a warrant to do so.
The affidavit says Ms. Prue said she wouldn’t give permission..
