John D. Gosselin
John D. Gosselin, 49, of Derby Line, died suddenly on August 31, 2024, at his home. He was born on April 30, 1975, in Newport, to Edward Gosselin and the late Louise (Fournier) Gosselin.
He graduated from North Country Union High School in the class of 1994. During his lifetime, John worked in construction, carpentry, and landscaping. He had many hobbies: sugaring, hunting, fishing, plowing, picking berries, playing cards, and playing cribbage and in cribbage tournaments. He loved spending time with his daughter, enjoyed sliding, waterparks and teaching her how to drive.
John was a member of the Newport Order of the Elks #2155.
He is survived by his daughter Chloe Gosselin, by his father, Edward Gosselin, by his siblings: Marc Gosselin and his wife, Eliza, Tina Campbell and her husband, Richard, Nancy Stone and her husband, Arty, and Susan Fauteux. He is survived by his nieces: Ruby Rose Gosselin, Megan Campbell, and Julia Fauteux; and his nephews: Alexi Fauteux, Matthew Campbell, Drew Stone, and Nicolas Fauteux. He is also survived by Ann Chalifoux who was like a step-mom, many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. He was predeceased by his mother Louise Gosselin, and his nephew Karl Edward.
Friends may call from 8:30 until 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, September 14, at the Curtis-Britch and Bouffard Funeral Home, 4670 Darling Hill Road in Derby, followed by a Mass of Christian burial celebrated at 11 a.m. at St. Edward’s Catholic Church in Derby Line, followed by a light lunch at the parish hall. Interment will be held at 2:30 p.m. at St. Marie Cemetery on Maple Street in Stanstead, Quebec.

Gailene Marie Marckres
Gailene Marie Marckres sadly died on August 21, 2024, with her daughters by her side. She was born February 27, 1955. Most of Gail’s adult life was spent caring for children. She ran an at-home daycare for many years and enjoyed the special bonds she created with all of “her kids.”
After she closed her daycare, Gail went to work at Craftsbury Academy as a para-educator. She loved helping the children who she worked with, and enjoyed the close friendships she made there as well.
Gail leaves behind her three daughters: Kelli Simino and husband, Jason, Rebecca Menard and husband, Nathan, and Kasey Butler. She leaves behind her two brothers, Lyle Marckres and wife, Peggy, and Rick Marckres and wife, Michelle, as well as her sister Marie Bolduc and husband, Phil. She also leaves her grandchildren Noah and Olivia Menard, who were her pride and joy. She also leaves several nieces and nephews, and a special friend Glenn “Buck” Butler. Gail has reunited with her parents Winfred and Lulabelle Marckres, sister Arlene Lesperance and brothers Wayne and Randy Marckres. A private service will be held, per her wishes.
Deborah Smith
Deborah Smith, 73, of Derby, died peacefully, surrounded by loved ones on August 30, 2024, at her home. She was born on January 7, 1951, in Derby Line, to Cecil Benway and Audrey Webb.
Deborah’s hobbies were playing card games with friends, putting together jigsaw puzzles, going out and dancing with friends, and watching her children and grandchildren play sports. She loved to watch football on TV and most importantly she loved spending time with her grandchildren. She was a member of the Lowell Bible Church and loved spending Sunday afternoons with family until her health began to decline.
She is survived by her children: Rebecca DiZazzo and her husband, David DiZazzo, Eric LaRose and his wife, Phyllis, Joseph LaRose and his wife, Ashlee, Edward Smith and his wife, Jennifer, and Jesse Smith and his wife, Sarah. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Joseph DiZazzo and his wife, Michaela, Cynthia DiZazzo and her fiancé, Philip Hensarling, Caleb DiZazzo and his wife, Ava, Jacob DiZazzo, Elizabeth DiZazzo, Kheilbi LaRose, Jacob LaRose and his partner, Jill Bryant, Walker LaRose, Landen Smith, Chance Smith, and Bryce Smith; and by her great-grandchildren: John “Jack” DiZazzo, Emmett DiZazzo, and Anthony “AJ” DiZazzo. She is also survived by her siblings: Steve Lorimer, Shane Benway and his wife, Linda, and Brian Benway.
She is survived by her close friends Tina Richardson, thank you Tina for helping for the last four years and loving her like family until the end, Norma Woodard who always had an open door for Deborah to go to and play a few games and have some laughs, and Ruth who was always there when life got tough in her younger years.
Deborah’s family would like to also give a special thanks to their mom’s doctor, Dr. Yasewicz and her nurse Jenn. They really went out of their way to give her the best care she could possibly have and thank you to the Orleans-Essex VNA Hospice, everyone there helped the family through every detail of how to give Deborah the best care possible in her last days.
She was predeceased by her parents: Cecil Benway and Audrey Webb, her brother Emerson (Bruce) Lorimer and her best friends Bonnie Major and Rolande Fortin.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, September 14, at the Lowell Bible Church, 2506 Vermont Route 100 in Lowell, with her son-in-law Pastor David DiZazzo officiating. Thomas J. Worth
Thomas J. Worth, 83, of Charleston, died on August 10, 2024. He was born to John Worth and Erma Whitcomb on February 14, 1941.
Tom graduated from Island Pond High School in 1958. Thomas then enlisted in the United States Air Force where he honorably served within the U.S. and two years overseas in Japan.
After serving his time in the USAF, Tom moved to Waterbury, Connecticut, here he worked for the Hartford New Haven Railroad. In 1965, he married Sandra Fagan of Island Pond. They would be married for over 57 years, until her death in December of 2022. In 1969, they moved to Catskill, New York, where Tom began his career with the New York State Carpenters Union under Dockbuilders Local 1456. They had two children: Lory Wright and Steven Worth (Angela Worth), and in mid ’80s, Louis Ledee joined the family. He is also survived by five grandchildren: Eric (Jaime Kelly), Kyle, Logan, Justin, Raquel, and great-grandchildren: Thomas and Summer; his sister Diane Lamere; and brother Harvey Worth (Debbie Worth).
He was a member of Island Pond American Legion, Catskill VFW, and the Catskill Elks Lodge 1341.
Thomas quietly passed away with his daughter Lory by his side in Springfield.
Tom will be greatly missed by all his family and friends.
There will be a ceremony at the Hillside Cemetery in East Charleston on October 12 at 2 p.m. followed by a celebration of life at the Island Pond American Legion.
