Changes are coming to the schools of the Lake Region Union Elementary-Middle School District (LRUEMSD) this fall. At the board’s previous meeting the principals of several district schools presented what they said is the best way to manage difficulties they’ve been facing.
Called the sister-school system, the plan would pair nearby schools and have students from their two communities attend kindergarten through fourth grade in one and fifth through eighth in the other.
After hearing the idea school directors warned a meeting for Monday night to vote on the proposal. At a meeting in the Lake Region Union High School cafeteria, members of the public shared their thoughts about the plan. Many expressed concerns about staffing, asking how the school hopes to retain staff and why teachers leave their jobs. …
