NEWPORT — It’s not usual for a defense attorney and a prosecutor to work together for the same cause, but in Orleans County, both State’s Attorney Jennifer Barrett and St. Johnsbury defense attorney David Sleigh have acted almost as a team to return in-person criminal proceedings to the Lee Emerson Courthouse in Newport.
To date, the Vermont Judiciary has not moved to resume criminal cases that were postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic emergency in Orleans County.
