Catherine M. (King) Baker
Catherine M. (King) Baker, 78, of Morgan, formerly of Windsor, Connecticut, died December 26, 2009, at home.
Mrs. Baker was born to William and Catherine (Vedeski) King in Hartford, Connecticut. She lived in Windsor most of her life before retiring with her husband, Leonard, to Morgan in 1987.
She will be remembered most for her keen and dry wit. She enjoyed her lottery scratch tickets and cooking shows. She also enjoyed crocheting, knitting, doing puzzles, and making afghans for all the family, including grandchildren. She and her husband enjoyed traveling with friends to the Caribbean on cruises. She especially loved her family and their visits.
She was predeceased by her parents; by her sister Marion King; and by her brother William King. She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Leonard Baker, of Morgan; by her children: Catherine Davignon of Winchester, Connecticut, Debra Baker of Canaan, Connecticut, Lori Baker of Goshen, Connecticut, and Douglas Baker of Otis, Massachusetts; by four grandchildren; by five great-grandchildren; and by several nieces and nephews.
Services will be held at the convenience of the family.

Lori Gale Beaudry Lawyer
Lori Gale Beaudry Lawyer, 47, of North Troy died December 30, 2009, in Newport.
Mrs. Lawyer was born March 1, 1962, in Newport, a daughter of Patricia (Horn) Beaudry and Robert Beaudry.
On June 30, 2004, she married Michael Lawyer, who survives her.
She graduated from North Country Union High School in 1980 and attended Champlain College in 1981.
She was employed by North Country Hospital in the billing and patient registration departments for ten years.
She enjoyed gardening, painting, and snowmobiling. She was an equine enthusiast, loved her animals, and especially enjoyed time spent with her grandchildren.
She was a member of the American Legion Post 28 Auxiliary of North Troy.
She is survived by her husband, Michael Lawyer, of North Troy; by three children: Nedah Barrett of Lyndonville, Nabil Alanbar of Waterbury, and Kirstin Lawyer of Lyndonville; by her mother, Patricia Beaudry, of North Troy; by three grandchildren: Cameron and Jasmine Barrett and Myles Alanbar; and by her brother Lawrence Beaudry and his wife, Lynne, of Hardwick. She was predeceased by her father, Robert Beaudry, on December 17, 2008.
Funeral services were held January 2 at St. Vincent de Paul Church in North Troy with the Reverend Henry Mlinganisa celebrating a Mass of Christian Burial. Spring interment will be in Notre Dame Cemetery in North Troy.

Anna Conley Berwick
Anna Conley Berwick, 45, of St. Johnsbury died unexpectedly on Monday, December 28, 2009.
Mrs. Berwick was born December 9, 1964, in Newport, a daughter of Jesse and June Conley. She was predeceased by her mother, June Conley Lewis, on April 13, 1994.
She raised beautiful standard poodles and placed them all over the world. She regularly took in abused, abandoned, and neglected dogs of all kinds, saw to it they got their shots, nurtured them back to health, and found them good homes. The way she took care of her animals reflected her good and caring heart.
She was the mother of three sons, including Charles Royer of St. Johnsbury, who died of cancer on April 1, 2007. She was deeply loved and will be sorely missed by her sons Robert Royer and his fiancée, Cassie Shea, of St. Johnsbury and Harlan Miles, age 14, of St. Johnsbury. She was like a second mother to Cassie.
She is survived by her father, Jesse Conley Sr., of Barton; by four brothers: David Conley and his wife, Cheryl, of Island Pond, Jesse Conley Jr. and his wife, Karen, of Barton, James Conley and his friend, Debbie, of Barton, and John Conley and his wife, Gloria, of Barton; by three sisters: Jane Handley and her friend, Ernie, of Lisbon, New Hampshire, Mary Politano of Orleans, and Rosemary Terri of Sanford, Maine; and by many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service was held January 3 at the North Congregational Church in St. Johnsbury with the Reverend William Cotte officiating.

E. Frances Kelley Boisvert
E. Frances Kelley Boisvert, 99, a longtime resident of Derby, died December 27, 2009.
Mrs. Boisvert was born June 19, 1910, in Holland to Lena (Hitchcock) and Orville Kelley. As a young girl in elementary school in Holland she drove a horse and buggy to school.
After moving to Derby, she graduated as salutatorian from Derby Academy in 1928 and Lyndon Normal School, now Lyndon State College. She was a teacher in a one-room schoolhouse on Pine Hill in Newport until the birth of her first child.
She and her husband, Robert, raised their three daughters on dairy farms in Derby for many years.
Her love of teaching did not stop when she left the classroom. She taught her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren many lessons during her 99 years.
Her hobbies were playing card games, reading, crocheting, knitting, and cooking. She passed many of her skills on to her family as well as her many, many friends. She made many friends at the senior centers, especially Joe McDuff and Dorie Buzzell, who both took her out to eat and for rides in the country. She could tell you who lived where on the back country roads more than 70 years ago.
She loved people and expressed it with her infectious smile, laughter, and Kelley sense of humor.
The piano was of great joy to her. She would delight in playing for her family and friends as they gathered around singing songs of yesteryear. She was the organist at the Derby United Church for many years.
She was active in the Parent Teacher Association, the Rebeckas, and the Christmas Club.
She was a very generous and thoughtful person. If one of her grandchildren or great-grandchildren came to her home they never left empty handed. If she gave to one, she gave to all even if it meant sending something in the mail to them. She found great pleasure in being around her family that included three children, six grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by three husbands: Robert Rowell in 1971, Gordon Rhodes in 1976, and Gerry Boisvert in 1991; by her daughter Rita Harrington; by brothers: Stirling, Roland, and Paul Kelley; by sons-in-law: Robert Taplin, Andrew Therrien, and Preston Harrington; and by her grandson David Taplin.
She is survived by her daughters Marilyn Taplin and Carolyn Judd and her husband, Arthur; by sister-in-law Iola Kelley; by her five grandchildren: Janet Taplin DeWitt, Brian Taplin, Ken Therrien, Steve Therrien, and Lynda Therrien Graham; and by her great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held at the Derby Center Cemetery in the spring with the Reverend Fred Baker officiating.

Pearl Viola (Wheeler) Britch
Pearl Viola (Wheeler) Britch, 88, of Newport died, surrounded by her loving family, on December 19, 2009, at Maple Lane Nursing Home in Barton.
Mrs. Britch was born January 28, 1921, in Newport, a daughter of Thomas and Goldie (Hartley) Wheeler.
On August 5, 1939, she married Francis Britch Sr., who predeceased her on December 29, 1989.
She was a member of St. Mark’s Episcopal Church in Newport.
Her interests included the research and genealogy of her family. She took great pride in her family and enjoyed spending time with them.
She is survived by her two children, Trina Gordon and her husband, Jim, of New Brunswick, Canada, and Francis Britch Jr. and his wife, Kathleen, of Newport; by four grandchildren: Heather Gordon of St. Stephen, New Brunswick, Sara Flaherty and her husband, Brian, of Tequesta, Florida, Scott Britch and his wife, Kim, of Newport Center, and Shawn Britch of Coventry; by three great-grandchildren: Justin, Kristin, and Graeden Britch; by her brother Thomas Wheeler of Windsor, Quebec; and by sisters Gladys Ellis of Northboro, Massachusetts, and Beatrice Martin of North Hatley, Quebec.
Funeral services were held December 23 at the Curtis-Britch Converse-Rushford Memorial Chapel in Newport with Christine Mosely officiating. Spring interment will be held at the Crystal Lake Cemetery in Stanstead, Quebec.

Bruce “Macky” G. Rivers
Bruce “Macky” G. Rivers, 57, of Island Pond died in Newport on January 1, 2010, after a long illness.
Mr. Rivers was born on May 25, 1952, in Newport, a son of Edward and Ethel (Samson) Rivers.
He enjoyed hunting and fishing and spending time at the family camp. He was a Marine, and proud of it, who served during the Vietnam War. He was a member and past commander of both Island Pond American Legion Post 80 and Newport Alfred Pepin Post 798.
He was a triplet and is survived by his mother; by his brothers: Maynard Rivers and his wife, Pam, of East Brighton, Robert Rivers and his wife, Rita, of Island Pond, and Gary Rivers and his wife, Sheryl, of New Hampshire; by his sister Lorraine Verge and her husband, Ed, of Island Pond; and by several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother Steve in 2000; and by his niece Tracy Glasson in 1980. His father, Edward Rivers, died January 2, 2010.
Funeral services for both Bruce and Edward Rivers will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, January 6, at the First Congregational Church in Island Pond with the Reverend Alan Magoon officiating. Friends may call at the church on Wednesday from 1 p.m. until the funeral. Spring interment with full military honors will be in Lakeside Cemetery in Island Pond.

Beverly Jean Clark
Beverly Jean Clark, 67, died unexpectedly on Friday, December 25, 2009, at her home in Craftsbury.
Mrs. Clark was born in Eden on February 8, 1942, a daughter of Hughie McLean and Beatrice (Hovey) McLean.
She graduated from high school in Waterville and later worked as a home care provider and as an aide for the Riverview Life Skills Center in Cambridge. She also sold Avon and Melaleuca products.
She enjoyed crocheting, taking and collecting pictures, playing cards, doing puzzles, and cooking. She enjoyed her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She leaves her son James “Jimmy” A. Tourangeau Jr. and his girlfriend, Sharon Cleary, of Wolcott; three daughters: Cindy Sanville and her husband, Ronald “Chip,” of Lyndonville, Angela Colaceci and her husband, Robert “Bob,” of Albany, and Rebecca Bryce and her husband, Todd, of Cambridge; her brother John McLean and his wife, Virginia, of Eden; two sisters, Eleanor Griggs and her husband, Reginald, of Craftsbury and Shirley McLean of Arcadia, Florida; 13 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; a special friend, John Leeper; and several nieces and nephews and other extended family members and friends. She was predeceased by her parents, Hughie and Beatrice McLean; by two brothers, James and William McLean; by grandson Jeremiah John Colaceci; and by father- and mother-in-law, Arthur and Persis Tourangeau.
A memorial service was held at the United Church of Craftsbury December 31 with Pastor Alan Parker officiating.

Arnold A. Cota Sr.
Arnold A. Cota Sr., 85, of Jay died December 28, 2009, in Newport.
Mr. Cota was born December 7, 1924, in Newport Center, a son of Archie and Hazel (Morse) Cota.
He married Dale Sargent in 1944. She predeceased him on October 24, 2007.
He was a charter member of the Jay Volunteer Fire Department. He helped build the station and started and ran bingo for the department. He played bingo for years and loved to dance with his wife. He loved his family and enjoyed their visits.
He was a member of Troy Masonic Lodge 16.
He and his wife owned and operated the family farm from 1952 to 1987, and he was employed at Jay Peak for several years.
He is survived by his children: Arnold Cota Jr. and his wife, Mary, of Jay, Terry Cota and his fiancée, Dorann, of St. Johnsbury, and Delbert Cota and his wife, Ann, of Jay; by grandchildren: Susan Galofaro and her husband, Richard, of California, Dean Cota and his wife, Cindy, of Milton, Karen Cota and her companion, Douglas Sheahan, of California, Nikole Brainard and her husband, Lindsay, of Derby, Jamie Cota and his wife, Sandy, of New Mexico, Amy Deavitt and her husband, Keith, of South Burlington, Buffy Ardine and her husband, Martin, of New Hampshire, Heidi Rappold and her husband, Scott, of Jay, Betsy Purvis and her husband, Michael, of New Hampshire, Melissa Scherer and her husband, Michael, of Beebe, and Meghan Gyles and her fiancé, Cory Peck, of West Charleston; by 17 great-grandchildren; by one great-great-grandchild; by his brother Howard Cota and his wife, Melba, of Troy; by sisters-in-law Carol Cota and Louise Sargent; and by several nieces and nephews. Cyril Ora Day
Cyril Ora Day, 88, of Newport died December 22, 2009, in Newport.
Mr. Day was born May 18, 1921, in Newport, a son of Ora and Isabelle (Labounty) Day.
On July 1, 1946, he married Evelyn Monfette, who predeceased him.
He was a foreman for the milling department at Union Butterfields for 44 years. He was a veteran of the United States Navy and served his country during World War II. He was the chief machinist mate and original plank owner of the USS Bunker Hill.
He was a member of American Legion Post 21 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 798, both of Newport.
He enjoyed woodworking and making furniture for family and friends and occasionally for sale. He enjoyed fishing off his front lawn into the Clyde River, feeding the ducks when they came to the front of the house, working in his garden, and attending family get-togethers. He loved his special dog Polly Anna.
He is survived by his children: Cheryl Sargent and her husband, David, of Bethlehem, New Hampshire, Kim Collins and her husband, Eric, of Richford, Terrance Day and his wife, Cathy, of Waterville, Randy Day and his wife, Sue, of Ware, New Hampshire, Robin Day and his wife, Georgia, of Branford, Connecticut, and Chantelle Orlen and her husband, Josh, of Cornish, New Hampshire; by eight grandchildren: Justin Day and his wife, Amy, Trevor Day and Meagan Bazin, Josh Day and Michelle Menard, and Heather, Timmy, Jason, and Lauren Day; and by two great-grandchildren, Noah Day and Bella Orlen. He was predeceased by brothers Calvin and Lawrence Day; and by sister Priscilla Smith.
Funeral services were held December 28 at St. Mary, Star of the Sea, Catholic Church in Newport with the Reverend Michael Reardon celebrating a Mass of Christian Burial. Spring interment will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery in Newport.

Edward Eugene Rivers
Edward Eugene Rivers, 87, of Island Pond died January 2, 2010, in Newport.
Mr. Rivers was born in Island Pond on April 25, 1922, a son of Coral and Grace (Birch) Rivers.
He was a veteran of World War II, having served in France and Germany with the 100th Division.
He worked for the Canadian National Railroad for 42 years, first at the former round house, then on the section where he retired as foreman in 1982.
As a hobby, he started snow plowing, which turned into a business. A big winter snowstorm couldn’t come too early for him as he enjoyed plowing.
He always had a big garden that he shared with family, friends, and neighbors. During the summer he would cut wood and sell it in the winter. He liked to keep busy. He built several trailers, which he sold to people in New Hampshire, Massachusetts, and Connecticut. He enjoyed fishing.
He held memberships with American Legion Post 80 of Island Pond and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 798.
He is survived by his wife, Ethel (Samson) Rivers, of Island Pond; by his daughter Lorraine Verge and her husband, Ed, of Island Pond; by his sons: Maynard Rivers and his wife, Pamela, of East Brighton, Gary Rivers and his wife, Sheryl, of New Hampshire, and Robert Rivers and his wife, Rita, of Island Pond; by his sister Thora Samson and her husband, Gordon, of Newport; by his brother Gordon Rivers of Derby; by nine grandchildren; by several great-grandchildren; by his aunt Sylvia Taylor; and by close friends Dick Melcher and his neighbor Jim Hinton. He was predeceased by a son Bruce on January 1, 2010; by his son Steve in 2000; by his sister Lillian; and by his granddaughter Tracy Glasson.

Richard “Dick” “Riche” Evans
Richard “Dick” “Riche” Evans, 85, formerly of Glover, died in Glover on December 23, 2009.
Mr. Evans was born in Paris, France, on June 26, 1924, to Paul and Marthe (Malot) Evans. He attended Burlington High School and Philips Academy at Andover.
In 1942, after his freshman year at the University of Vermont (UVM), he enlisted in the U.S. Army Air Corps, where he proudly served in military intelligence and the French-speaking 8th Signal Center team in Cognac, France, during World War II.
After the war, he married Ruth Kimball Jordan in 1947 and graduated from UVM in 1948.
After graduation he took employment with General Motors Corporation (GM) Overseas Division, where he made his career until he retired in 1978. While with GM, he served as supply manager in Buenos Aires, Argentina, and as staff director of European supply in London, England.
He and his wife enjoyed raising their seven children overseas and experiencing multiple continents, cultures, and languages.
After retirement he and his wife chose to settle in Glover, where they were among the founding members of the Glover Historical Society. He served as a selectman for the town of Glover, board president of the Old Stone House Museum in Brownington, and as general editor of The History of the Town of Glover, Vermont, published by the Glover Bicentennial Committee. That committee gave rise to the Glover Bicentennial Scholarship, given annually to Glover students continuing on to college.
He and his wife traveled extensively and volunteered tirelessly in their community. He became a poet in his later years, publishing two books of his work. He very much enjoyed reading his poetry to his children and grandchildren, a tradition that will certainly continue on to the next generation.
He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Ruth, in 1995; and by daughter-in-law Angela LeBlanc in 2003. Survivors include his special beloved friend Marybeth Kemske and her family of Newark, Delaware; his brother Jean of Falls Church, Virginia; and by his seven children and their spouses: Richard Evans and his wife, Laura, of Los Angeles, California, Michael Evans and his partner, Anne Cameron, of Williston, Martha Miller and her husband, Richard, of Malvern, Pennsylvania, Peter Evans of Glover, Thomas Evans and his wife, Julie, of Newport, Louise Evans of Brownington, and James Evans of Barton. He took delight in his nine grandchildren: Lia Evans, Jenna and Joshua Cameron, Jordan and Joseph Miller, Joshua Evans, and Liam, Marika, and Aidan Mulroy.
He was a true gentleman and will be sadly missed by his family and all who knew him. A celebration of his life will occur in the spring.

Beatrice Simone (Marc-Aurele) Gauvin
Beatrice Simone (Marc-Aurele) Gauvin, 67, of Lowell, known to all as “Bea,” beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, died peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, after a long, courageous battle with cancer, on Friday, January 1, 2010.
Mrs. Gauvin was born in Bromont, Quebec, a daughter of Gaston and Mary (Racicot) Marc-Aurele, who both predeceased her.
She moved to Lowell in 1960 with her family. She married Real G. Gauvin in 1962.
She and her husband owned and operated a dairy farm in Sheldon for 17 years, where she operated her community care home for 13 years.
In 1990 they relocated to Newport, where they owned and operated a dairy farm for 14 years.
She loved sewing, including making wedding dresses. To many she was known as a community seamstress, where no job was too big or too small. She sewed at home for a variety of businesses such as Vermont Teddy Bear Company.
She enjoyed cooking and always had extra food on hand in case someone should stop by. Everyone was welcome, and no one was turned away.
She had a love for all animals. She especially loved the companionship of her dog Eddy. She enjoyed watching the birds from her window.
She will be remembered for her dedication to her family and her unshakable loyalty to her husband, children and friends, as well as for her artistic talent and the great affection she had for everyone she met throughout her life.
She is survived by her loving husband of 48 years of marriage, Real G. Gauvin; by their four children, ten grandchildren, and one great-grandchild: Danny Gauvin and his fiancée, Kim Messier, of Coventry and their children Zachary of Coventry and Danielle of Highgate; David Gauvin, his wife, Shannon, and their children Kristina and Eric of Derby Line, Joshua of St. Albans, and Michelle O’Rourke and her fiancé, Steven Gleason, and their son Mack of Derby; Diane Simpson, her husband, Paul, and their child Meghan of Newport; and Ronney Gauvin, his wife, Ericka, and their children Jesse, Alec, and Courtney of Derby Line. She is survived by three sisters: Gertrude Tetreault and her husband, Andre, of Lowell, Yvette Retalick and her husband, John, of Newport, and Helen Racicot and her husband, Alfred, of Keene, New Hampshire; and by several nieces and nephews.

Cleo P. Mosher, 70, of Barton died in Newport after a short illness.
Mrs. Mosher was born September 9, 1939, in Newport, a daughter of Kleon and Bethleen (Tillotson) Kelley.
She married Colen Mosher in 1958. He who predeceased her in 2004.
She was a hard-working woman who worked in the hot lunch program in Irasburg for many years. She and her husband worked together for years taking care of, training, and racing their harness horses on the New England and northern east circuits.
She loved to dance, to listen to music of any kind, and to play the piano. She learned to play the dulcimer and played it at area nursing homes to provide entertainment to the residents. She loved to play cards with her family and friends and enjoyed all of her square dancing friends.
Most of all, she loved her family. She was a very religious person and thought much of her church family.
She is survived by her children: Carlene Lanoue and her husband, Glenn, of Orleans, Crystal Perkins and her husband, Michael, of Irasburg, Craig Mosher and his wife, Penny, of New York, and Connie Campilango and her husband, Scott, of New York; by her grandchildren: Derek and Kelley Lanoue, Gregory and Lindsey Perkins, Christopher Mosher, Brandon James Campilango, and Ryan, Daren, and Ashlee; by great-grandson Cullin Michael Ward; by her twin sister, Barbara Hilliker, and her husband, Bill; by her sister Dawn Lamont and her husband, Loren; and by several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service was held December 23 at the Irasburg United Church with Pastor George Lawson officiating. Spring interment will be held in the Irasburg Cemetery.

Marion “Nana” Mildred Pratt
Marion “Nana” Mildred Pratt, 86, of Derby died January 2, 2010, in Barton.
Mrs. Pratt was born July 29, 1923, in Island Pond, a daughter of Dale and Ethel (Douglass) Morse.
On October 1, 1943, she married Howard Stephen Pratt, who predeceased her in 1985.
She worked at American Maple Products for many years and Vermont Beef Jerky for 11 years until she retired at age 82.
She loved watching the birds at her bird feeders and seeing all her flowers bloom.
She is survived by two daughters, Cheryl Labounty and her husband, Raymond, of Derby and Lynda Davidson of Derby; by grandson Stephen Erwin-Davidson and his wife, Lisa, of Derby; by great-grandchildren: Stephen Davidson of Derby, Michael Davidson of Orange, Massachusetts, and Karina Miller and James Miller of Derby; by a special little friend, Kaelin LaPlante; and by four nephews. She was predeceased by two sisters, Beverly Appleby and Ruby Davis.
Burial will take place in the spring at the convenience of the family.

Ellis A. Richardson
Ellis A. Richardson, 85, of Hardwick died December 25, 2009, at his home in Inverness, Florida, with his family at his bedside.
Mr. Richardson was born March 10, 1924, in Calais, a son of Clyde and Myra (Dwyer) Richardson. He attended Peoples Academy in Morrisville.
He enlisted in the U.S. Army on February 17, 1943. He served his country in India, China, and the jungles of Burma during World War II as one of Merrill’s Marauders. Staff Sergeant Richardson returned to the United States and was honorably discharged at Fort Devens, Massachusetts, on January 16, 1946.
On July 29, 1946, he married Lillian Alma Hill at St. Norbert’s Catholic Church in Hardwick.
He and his wife owned and operated the IGA Foodliner on Main Street in Hardwick for many years. They purchased Smith’s Store in Greensboro Bend in the mid-1970s. Later they sold that business to their daughter and son-in-law, Mary and Bill Thompson. He retired in 1990.
He was a member of St. Norbert’s Catholic Church and Brownson Council 1568 of the Knights of Columbus. He was very active in the Hardwick community. He served as village president and trustee, head of the electric department, chairman and member of the elementary school board, and life member of American Legion Post 7.
As an avid golfer, he was a member of the Orleans Country Club. He loved the time that he spent with his family and enjoyed his winter home in Florida.
Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Lillian; six children: Gale Squires and her husband, Dennis, of Inverness and Antim, New Hampshire, Brenda Bolieu, Dian Holcomb, Michael Richardson and his wife, Tanya, Gary Richardson and his companion, Cindy Moulton, and Mary Thompson and her husband, William “Bill,” all of Hardwick; his sister Edna Taylor of Essex; two brothers, Alton Richardson of Berlin and Burton Richardson of Montpelier; 13 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was predeceased by twin great-granddaughters; and by six sisters: Mona, Iona, Anita, Joyce, Betty Ann, and Margaret.
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated January 4 at St. Norbert’s Catholic Church in Hardwick with the Reverend Peter O’Leary celebrant. Spring burial will be in the family lot in Fairview Cemetery in Hardwick.

John Claude St. Onge
John Claude St. Onge, 78, of Enosburg Falls died unexpectedly on Friday evening, December 25, 2009, at Northwestern Medical Center in St. Albans.
Mr. St. Onge was born January 27, 1931, in St. Felix de Valois, Quebec, a son of Wilbrod and Rose (Vandette) St. Onge.
At the age of seven he moved with his family to Barton from Canada where he resided until 1972 when he moved to Enosburg Falls.
He worked at the Howard Bank for 25 years, retiring in 1982 as a bank supervisor.
He was a U.S. Army veteran during the Korean War. He was a member of American Legion Post 1 of Montreal and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Charles Daprato Post 778 of Swanton. He was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Enosburg Falls.
He was a sports enthusiast. As a young man he enjoyed playing basketball and baseball and then as an adult he refereed and umpired many youth basketball and baseball games. He was an avid Boston Red Sox and Boston Celtics fan. He enjoyed golfing.
He is survived by his wife, Rita (Dupre) St. Onge, of Enosburg Falls. They married on January 1, 1982.
He is survived by his children: John P. St. Onge and his friend, Kimberly Peterson, of Waterbury Center, Steven St. Onge of Fairfield, and Jeanne Sicard and her husband, Richard, of Barton; by his grandchildren: Laurel Grenier, Nathan Sicard, Emilie Rich, and Andrea Miller; by one great-grandson, Caleb Grenier; by his brother George St. Onge and his wife, Evangaline, of Repentigny, Quebec; by two sisters, Marguerite Frechette of Burlington and Yolande Paquette and her husband, George, of Barton; and by several nieces, nephews, and friends. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by brother-in-law Roland Frechette; and by his niece Susan Pelkey.
Funeral services were held December 30 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Enosburg Falls with the Reverend Daniel Jordan celebrating the Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will take place next spring in St. John the Baptist Cemetery in Enosburg Falls.

Ellsworth Frank Westney Jr.
Ellsworth Frank Westney Jr., 65, of Craftsbury died Wednesday, December 24, 2009, at Copley Hospital in Morrisville.
Mr. Westney was born in Boston, Massachusetts, on September 13, 1944, a son of Ellsworth F. Westney Sr. and Mary Jane Westney Kinney.
He went on to the field of work at an early age. He worked on dairy farms, at the paper mill in Putney, and at the Box Shop in Charlestown, New Hampshire. He was brought up in Charlestown, and lived in the Brattleboro area, Townsend, Woodbury, Hardwick, and Greensboro Bend before making Craftsbury his home.
He was a 4-H leader for the units in Greensboro Bend and Hardwick and was a former member of the Moose Lodge in Barre.
He leaves five daughters: Paula Beattie and her husband, Eric, of Morrisville, Susie Colbeth and her husband, Paul, of Greensboro Bend, Tasha Churchill and her husband, Joseph, of Cabot, Stephanie Westney and her fiancé, John Martin, of Greensboro Bend, and Melinda Westney and her boyfriend, Matt Lamarre, of St. Johnsbury; by ten grandchildren: Caleb and Caisa Weglarz, Ellsworth Westney and his fiancée, Ashley Gale, Natasha, Cortney, Jessica and Jazzmen Colbeth, Evan Westney, Tyler Hopkins, and Jameson Lamarre; two brothers, Richard Westney and his wife, Susan, of Walpole, New Hampshire, and Kenneth Westney and his wife, Linda, of Charlestown; two sisters, Marlene DeCamp and Betty Jelly and her husband, Andy, all of Charlestown; his fiancée, Marlene Audet, of Morrisville; stepbrother Lawrence Kinney; stepsisters: Dedra Dunham, Laura Lee Sage, and Violet Kinney; his dog Spike; and his former wife and mother of his children, Sharon Autry, and her husband, Harlen, of Greensboro Bend. He was predeceased by his parents; and by his stepfather, Herman Kinney.
A memorial service was held at the Greensboro Bend United Methodist Church December 30.
