Five vie for Newport City Council seat

The city of Newport will have a variety of fireworks at its centennial Annual Meeting. Challengers abound in the race for a two-year city council seat, and there is also a race for the one-year position.

Five people are vying for the full term. City Council President John Wilson and Julie Raboin are seeking a new term. They will face challengers Kevin Charbonneau, Woodman “Woody” Page, and Ira Morgan.

Incumbent James Merriam will face Daniel Ross for the single-year council term.
