North Country seeks cure for truancy

DERBY — North Country Union High School has a group of about 18 students who have stopped coming to school according to Principal Chris Young.  He said it is important to do everything possible to get them back to class and proposed a solution at a joint high school and junior high meeting held on April 23 at the North Country Union Junior High School.

Mr. Young said trying to engage students in a separate, remote, program has not worked, and he thought it would be better to have a qualified teacher work to connect with “chronically absent”  students…..
