NEWPORT — A report of someone shooting a turkey from a car led to the discovery of a person who jacked at least ten deer, says an affidavit submitted by Senior Game Warden Cody Jackman.
The affidavit says on the evening of May 19, 2023, a turkey hunter told Warden Jackman that about 6 that morning, he saw a silver Subaru driving east on Willoughby Lake Road in Barton. Warden Jackman said he was told the hunter spotted a turkey, then heard two gunshots within a couple of seconds of each other and then saw the car drive off.
Warden Jackman said the hunter told him the car, now headed westward, came back around 90 seconds later and pulled off the road….
