Falcons bow to Solons

NEWPORT — The North Country Union High School Falcons encounter with the Montpelier High School Solons on Wednesday, January 10, produced a tense matchup between the two teams.  The Solons, with five wins to three losses, brought their best game to Clifford Court hoping to keep their streak of victories going.  After getting their first win on the recently dedicated court against Enosburg Falls, the Falcons sought their seventh victory of the season.  With only two losses, each a close game that saw North Country pressed to the last second, the night was set for vigorous competition.

The tip-off led directly into a combative first quarter with each side rushing the other’s defense in an attempt to squeeze through some early points.  The Falcons’ Hayden Boivin was the first to score for the home team when he broke back down the court with a stolen pass. ..
