NEW YORK CITY, New York — For the past three years I’ve been working on my bachelor’s degree at Columbia University. Last fall I was a teaching assistant for a class with more than a hundred students. On the morning of October 8, 2023, I read an announcement sent to tell students in our class that they could reach out if they were affected by “the terrible attacks in Israel … and the ongoing war.”
I wanted to get a sense of what had happened so I could better support any students who asked for help, but as I looked for information, I found that everyone had different facts….
