GLOVER — With some local effort, Shadow Lake could be reclassified as an A1, or “excellent,” lake in the eyes of the state. The simple change in classification means more than a gold star, but it does not imply all is well with the water.
The state puts its lakes into four water quality categories: B1, B2, A1, and A2. A1 is excellent, A2 is a public water source, B1 is very good, and B2 is good. All waters above 2,500 feet are classified as A1 automatically, and all waters below 2,500 feet are B2, unless otherwise designated.
