Police say Barton man tried to shoot man on neighboring property

An 88-year-old Barton man, who police say has made numerous unfounded charges of trespassers on his property, pled innocent to a charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.  Judge Thibault released the man, Robert Bristol Jr., on conditions.

State Police Trooper Jason Shores, in an affidavit, said a man called 911 around 6:51 p.m. on April 22 and told the dispatcher he had been shot at while scouting turkeys for youth weekend.  Trooper Shores said he spoke to the man, who told him he turned into a pull-off leading to a nearby deer camp.

The man said he was taking photographs of turkey when he heard a shot and realized it was directed at him, the affidavit says ….
