NEWPORT — Police say a citizen complained that a fight along Newport’s waterfront made her afraid to walk on the boardwalk. Newport City Police Patrolman Jonathan Morin’s affidavit says the report came in around 7:17 p.m. on July 23.
It says he got to the boardwalk a few minutes later and saw a large crowd gathered about halfway between the Gateway Center and the Emory Hebard State Office Building. The affidavit says Newport Police Sergeant Charles Moulton spoke briefly with the woman who alerted police to the problem and then walked with Patrolman Morin toward the group.
