NEWPORT — An organization that had a big effect on this city’s life before going quiet for seven years or so has plans to stage its own renaissance.  Members of the Newport City Downtown Development (NCDD) came together at the Gateway Center on June 7 to celebrate the past year’s accomplishments and look forward to those of the future.

Rick Ufford-Chase, the director of NCDD, said last year’s annual meeting attracted 15 members.  This year’s attendance was more than triple that number.

Along with Sarah Chadburn, the organization’s president, Mr. Ufford-Chase welcomed the crowd who came to celebrate the year’s accomplishments.  The celebration began with a meal provided by The Warehouse and Lago Trattoria.
