In Albany, temporary food shelf home found

ALBANY — Despite the absence of one of its members and the difficulty of at least one item, the Albany Select Board ran through its agenda on May 20 with ease and efficiency.  Road business and the future of the Albany Food Share dominated the conversation, with the latter drawing a small crowd that, like the board, felt relieved to have arrived at a temporary plan for relocation.

Select board member Heather Lafont summarized months of discussion between the town and the Albany subsidiary of the Hardwick Area Food Pantry (HAFP).  The food pantry has had move out of the town hall due to upcoming renovation work done under a Municipal Energy Resilience Program (MERP) grant.  Select board members have also said the hall is a historic property and there are many community requests for use of the space.
