Falcons efforts fall short in hockey semifinal game

LYNDON CENTER — The Fenton W. Chester Arena was packed with eager spectators as the North Country Union High School Falcons met the Union 32 High School Raiders March 10.  A majority, based on sound alone, were there in hopes of seeing the second-seeded Falcons overcome the Raiders, who were seeded third in the tournament, in the semifinal round of Division 2 competition and went on to the finals in Burlington.

Those hopes were dashed when the buzzer sounded at the end of three intense periods of hockey, with the final score 2 to 1, in U-32’s favor.

The match was a rough and tumble affair, especially in the first two periods ….
