DERBY — A handful of Derby residents went to Monday’s select board meeting to state concerns about their road.
At the meeting on June 24, there was talk about throwing up roads, during which Batchelder Drive was mentioned. If done the town would be relieved of the responsibility of maintaining the road. After reading about this in meeting minutes, resident Ben Batchelder became concerned. Along with others who shared his worries about the road being thrown up, he asked how the process for throwing up a road works and why the town is contemplating the action.
Board chair Grant Spates said letters will be sent to people living on roads that are under consideration. They will tell residents about a hearing at which the issue will be discussed at length. …
