Brownington farmer enters plea deal in dead cow case

NEWPORT — A Brownington farmer whose maltreatment of livestock resulted in criminal charges that could have put him in prison for 65 years, pled guilty to three of those charges on November 6. 

Donovan T. Steele, 26, now of Greer, South Carolina, worked out a plea agreement with prosecutors under which he will spend no more than five years behind bars.
