NEWPORT — Two representatives from the Green Mountain Care Board (GMCB) might have thought they’d entered the lion’s den when they showed up at a meeting held on October 10 to protest a recommendation to effectively close North Country Hospital. They weren’t torn apart by the crowd of around 150 angry people, but they left with their ears singed.
The meeting was called by hospital leaders to let local residents know where things stand after the GMCB released a report written by Oliver Wyman, a consulting firm, that suggested steps for North Country to take that, if carried out, would effectively mean the end of the hospital.
