GREENSBORO BEND — The village of Greensboro Bend has been seen as the poor cousin of the town up the hill since the Lamoille Valley Railroad stopped running regular service some seventy years ago. Before that it was a bustling community with a grain dealer, stores, and all sorts of commercial activity.
If the plans of a group of community members pan out as they hope, the Bend could once again be a thriving village, and the engine that brings that about could be the railroad’s successor, the Lamoille Valley Rail Trail.
Dan Predpall, a member of the Bend Revitalization Initiative, a group that has been working since 2022 to restore some of the community’s former luster, said Monday that with help from the state Agency for Commerce and Commercial Development Grant, the Bend initiative hired a consultant to help put together a plan.
