VEC treads complex power path

JAY PEAK — Rebecca Towne, the CEO of the Vermont Electric Cooperative (VEC), began her talk at the co-op’s annual meeting here Saturday by recollecting a moment from her job interview seven years ago.

“I still remember one of the board members, Mark Woodward, said to me, ‘I think the next 10 years are going to be the most interesting years in the electric industry that we’ve ever seen,’” Ms. Towne recalled.  “And I agreed with him, which is probably why he voted to hire me, but I actually think the last seven years have been some of the most interesting that we’ve ever seen, and I think that statement is still true.

“I think that the next 10 years are still going to be the most exciting we’ve ever seen, and we have a lot of challenges and opportunities ahead …
