NEWPORT — Since Bogner stopped making its skiwear in Newport 20 years ago, its building has been vacant. Around ten years ago, it appeared as if it would be the site of AnC Bio, a bio-medical plant and a window manufacturing company. Those plans went by the wayside, in large part because of fraud. In the ensuing years, the 43,000-square-foot building was the victim of vandals and the sort of dilapidation that is the result of lack of maintenance.
Just in time, the building caught the eye of Mike Desmarais, the owner of Track Inc., a company that started out selling winter trail groomers, but has its eye on bigger things.
On Friday, Mr. Desmarais welcomed a couple of dozen guests to his company’s new headquarters and, with the assistance of a few of them, snipped a ribbon to mark its official opening.
Track Inc., isn’t exactly new to the area. …
