NEWPORT — Vermont State Police Trooper Logan Miller’s affidavit says around 8:30 p.m. on May 4, a woman told police that a man and a woman were fighting in front of a house in Jay. The caller said the man was asking for the police and the woman wanted keys, the affidavit says.
Trooper Miller said police then heard the woman was unconscious but woke and went back to fighting. The woman in the fight, Bella Carlos, 23, of Jay, then called police and said she fell and broke her nose, Trooper Miller said.
Ms. Carlos said the man with whom she was fighting had taken her keys, after saying she was too drunk to drive, according to the affidavit. It says Ms. Carlos attacked him because he stopped her from leaving. The affidavit says the man returned to where the fight took place and ….
