SUTTON — Another beloved piece of the Northeast Kingdom will be protected for public use. In a press release, the Vermont Department of Forests, Parks, and Recreation (FPR) said it bought 118.6 acres along Wheeler Mountain Road here to expand Willoughby State Forest. The new addition includes the iconic ridgeline, cliffs, and summit of Wheeler Mountain, and offers unique habitats, scenic views, and recreational opportunities such as hiking and rock climbing.
Last month the state announced it had bought the island in Island Pond so it can remain open as a recreational asset….
