NEWPORT — Two people appeared in the Criminal Division of Orleans County Superior Court to plead innocent to obstruction of justice, a felony, and giving false information to a law enforcement officer to implicate another.
After they entered their pleas Judge Rory Thibault released Ronald Rock Jr., 42, of Irasburg on recognizance and Amanda Stetson, 40, of Newport on conditions.
In his affidavit Newport City Police Sergeant Charles Moulton said Ms. Stetson sent him an email with the subject line “Falsified and forged citation signature and all” on June 7. The body of the message says Mr. Rock’s signature was forged on a citation of domestic assault issued by Orleans County Sheriff’s Deputy Andrew Gonyaw on June 5, Sergeant Mouton said.
He said he responded to Ms. Stetson saying her allegation was a serious matter, but should be easy to confirm or refute.
