NEWPORT — Police say three teenagers from Springfield, Massachusetts, beat up a pair of Coventry men Sunday and stole three rifles at gunpoint. According to the affidavit from Vermont State Police Trooper James Gallup, a 911 call came just before 1 p.m. from a man who said he saw a black man with an assault rifle being chased by a Subaru near Spencer Hill Road.
While Trooper Gallup was on the way to Coventry, he said, a call came in from a woman who said her husband and his uncle had been injured at that location and needed police help.
A third call came in from a woman who said she had been phoned by her son who said his uncle had been shot…
