Stanstead threatens to turn off the tap on Derby residents

DERBY — Across the border, Stanstead, Derby Line’s partner in the International Water Company, is raising concerns about unpaid bills.  Dana Nagy of the Vermont Agency of Natural Resources wants to set up a meeting between the town of Derby and Stanstead.

Some U.S. residents of Beebe Road and Canusa Avenue, outside Derby Line, are connected to Canadian water mains, but since Beebe is an unincorporated village, and since most residents of the town of Derby, outside the two villages, have well water sources, getting those homes to pay their water bills has been an issue for years.
