Post office loses checks, phone company sends notices

Imagine that you get a letter from your telephone/internet access company.  When you open it up you are faced with a “disconnection notice.”  The bill included with the mailing is double the usual amount and you are told that it needs to be paid within a few days.

Some Vermonters who sent payment to Consolidated Communications through the United States Postal Service have been sent such disconnection notices.  The payments they mailed to pay for their phone/internet service have been lost by the United States Postal Service Processing and Distribution Center in White River Junction.
