Cecil Walter Daniels

Cecil Walter Daniels, 60, of Island Pond, died unexpectedly on March 30, 2026.

Cecil was born on September 18, 1965, to Cecil M. Daniels and Beatrice J. Martin in Newport. Cecil graduated from North Country Union High School in 1984. Following graduation, he went on to work in a variety of positions throughout his adult life, mainly in the construction industry. Cecil was known as a jack of all trades, a man who knew how to fix just about anything. He was a skilled mechanic and welder, characteristics he adopted from his late father. Over the course of his life, Cecil touched the lives of many. He was a man of great humor, always quick to laugh and crack a joke. He was a dependable person, willing to help anyone. Wherever he went, he left a strong impression.

On August 27, 1994, Cecil married his lifelong sweetheart, Sylvie (Stebenne) Daniels, of Island Pond, and celebrated almost 32 years of marriage together. They remained in Island Pond and raised three children. Cecil was a proud father. He instilled strength, resilience, self-sufficiency, and strong work ethics in his children; qualities he himself carried. Despite his tough exterior at times, he had a soft core and loved deeply.

Cecil enjoyed spending his leisure time engaging in hunting, fishing, snowmobiling, and, in later years, beekeeping. He could be found tinkering on anything with a motor, pruning his fruit trees, working on his sawmill, and blasting music on his stereo in the summertime. He found great joy in being a grandfather. On the day he became known as “Papa,” a deeper sense of love and purpose for his life emerged.

Cecil was predeceased by his parents, Cecil M. Daniels and Beatrice J. Martin. He is survived by his wife, Sylvie Daniels, children: Ryan Daniels and partner, Samantha, of Island Pond, Jeremy Daniels of Island Pond, Gabrielle Sykes and husband, Benjamin, of Williston; and grandchildren: Maverick and Brynley. He is also survived by his brother Wayne Daniels and wife, Nancy, brother Timothy Daniels and wife, Mary, and sister Cecile Trott and husband, Brad. In addition, Cecil is survived by several nieces and nephews.

Those who knew Cecil are invited to attend his celebration of life at 2 p.m. on June 6, 2026, at the family home in Island Pond. The family asks for guests interested in staying following the celebration to bring a photo or a dish to share.
