NEWPORT — Many of the stops members of Governor Phil Scott’s cabinet made on September 25 for the “Capital for the Day” tour of Orleans County were made to check out the success of schools or businesses in the area. Secretary of Human Services Jenney Samuelson, had to know before she arrived at the headquarters of Northeast Kingdom Human Services (NKHS) here, that the meeting would not be a relaxing one.
It was added to the schedule late, and was clearly included on the calendar because of the report recently released by a consultant hired by the Green Mountain Care Board (GMCB). It was focused on reducing the cost of providing health care in the state, and one set of recommendations has caused anger and consternation in Orleans County….
