Money coming in for Derby vista purchase

DERBY — Things seem to be looking good for the Shattuck Hill project, a plan meant to preserve a local scenic view and spare it from any future development.  Thanks to contributions from local residents, businesses, and other parties interested in seeing the vista from Shattuck Hill remain as it has been for many decades, a large sum of money has been raised to buy the land.  The project, spearheaded local businessman Doug Spates, is closing in on its fundraising goal.

A property owner and landlord, Mr. Spates has been leading the efforts to raise the money.  When he saw that the field off Shattuck Hill Road in Derby was on the market and zoned for possible development..
