NEWPORT — Police say 53-year-old Derby resident Steven Sheltra fired a .22 caliber bullet through a door in his apartment knowing that two young men were in the room behind it. He pled innocent to two felony charges of first-degree aggravated domestic assault with a weapon and to two charges of reckless endangerment.
Judge Bonnie Badgewick released Mr. Sheltra on conditions and a $500 unsecured appearance bond.
Vermont State Police Trooper Jeff Ferrier’s affidavit says a dispatcher got a 911 call around 4:30 p.m. on September 30. It says the dispatcher could hear a voice in the background speaking to someone else and saying a man fired a bullet from a gun into a door and a woman was on her way to pick them up.
Trooper Ferrier said he got to the area along Route 5 in Derby where the call originated and saw ….
