Irasburg school not planned for closure

The fate of the Irasburg Village School weighed heavy on the minds of many of those who attended a meeting held Monday evening at Lake Region Union High School.

Members of the community gathered to hear the findings of a facilities report from the New England School Development Council (NESDEC).

Joe Houston, facilities director for the Orleans Central Supervisory Union’s (OCSU) elementary schools, opened the meeting and explained that the report is meant to be a spark for future discussions, and reassured them that the purpose of the evening was not to make any decisions, including about the Irasburg school.
