In Derby..To plow or not to plow, that is the question

DERBY — Winter is coming.  The trees know as they show with the change of their leaves.  The wind can tell you when it rattles the eaves.  So, with winter in mind, the Derby Select Board discussed issues regarding the roads they are charged with keeping clear.  Some of them are roads that they’d rather throw up rather than plowing the rarely traveled byways.

For several months the board has talked about downgrading some roads from Class 4 to trails.  Those are ones that have been abandoned when better roads open up or become defunct when the camps and farmhouses they once served are no longer in regular use….
