In Barton Village, Hydro tour makes case for bond

CHARLESTON—Improvements needed to keep the Barton Village Hydroelectric Station here from springing a huge leak come with a pretty hefty price tag.  Saturday’s open house at the station gave village trustees a chance to let the public in on issues at the site, ahead of a  September 20 vote to borrow the $3-million needed renovate the aging facility.

The trustees paid the generating station a visit a few months ago and the board spoke with its manager, Denis Fortin.  Mr. Fortin highlighted issues at the power station.

Fixing current major problems will require Barton Village to sell a 20-year bond.  At the open house, Mr. Fortin explained how each item slated for replacement or repair was identified, ….
