BARTON — A couple of new projects should make noticeable changes to Barton according to information provided to select board members by Zoning Administrator Sarah Bailey on July 1. Board chair Jeff Cota was off celebrating his birthday, leaving colleagues Dee McDowell and Ted Gattino to do the heavy lifting in his absence.
Mr. Gattino introduced the first project. He said he had gone to May Farm Road, near the town garage along with Ms. Bailey, Orleans Fire Chief E.J. Rowell, and Orleans Village Administrator John Morley. They met with representatives of Vermont Railway and a state official in charge of hazardous materials, to look over the site of a propane distribution facility.
According to Mr. Gattino, the plan is for the railroad to build two spurs and bury three storage tanks underground. He said the project is being undertaken in cooperation with ….
