DERBY — It was smooth sailing for the select board which cruised through its agenda Monday evening, as members fielded feedback from residents on paving and mowing, continued the discussion on tennis courts behind the town office, and approved the new tax rate for 2026.
Resident Bruce Muir seemed simply curious about his situation when he told the board about the half-paved 4-H Road leading up to his property. Mr. Muir was puzzled as to what happened to cause the sudden stop. “In order to complete the front of my property, they’re short 17 feet. Now I’m wondering, did they run out of tar?”
Select board member Stephen Gendreau, who spoke for absent road foreman Tom Pratt, said they were just to pave to where the “big turnaround spot is” on that road but had enough to go a little further. “That was not to get paved,” ….
