Improved mental health care from NKHS called for

BARTON — Community and faith-based groups held a press conference here Monday to ask officials to ensure the region’s service agency, Northeast Kingdom Human Services (NKHS), improves the scope and quality of mental health care before its state designation is restored.  Among their asks:  that the agency open a clinic in Barton at least one day a week.

“The more people I asked for help, the more dead ends I encountered,” Heather Legacy said about the time she sought parenting support as a single mom in Orleans County.
