Harvey Cleveland remembered at Memorial Day pull

BARTON — Saturday’s tractor pull at the Barton Fairgrounds was interrupted at 2 p.m., something that Harvey Cleveland, the man who presided over innumerable pulls over the years would never have countenanced.  Unfortunately, he was not there to ask what the hold-up was, having died last year.

As it turned out Mr. Cleveland was the cause of the stoppage as more than 100 antique tractor enthusiasts gathered around the stage to honor Mr. Cleveland.

The tribute was organized by Kim Brooks, Mr. Cleveland’s life partner for many years, and it attracted a sizeable contingent of his descendants in addition to the many people who knew and loved him.
