Glover roots help Sarah Waring to fly

Sarah Waring of East Montpelier may have just stolen the title of being Glover Community School’s most distinguished alumna. Ms. Waring, who spent her youth in Glover, was appointed by President Joe Biden to be the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) Rural Development Director for Vermont and New Hampshire.  The appointment didn’t come as a surprise to Ms. Waring, who spent almost a full year interviewing for the position and participating in background checks.

In the tradition of regional federal appointments, which change with each incoming administration, the new President reaches out to the longest-serving political leader of their party in that state, in this case, Senator Patrick Leahy, to make a nomination.
