Free breakfast with NEK legislators

NEWPORT —  Newport City Downtown Development brought together six local legislators at the Eastside Restaurant here Monday.  They gathered at 7:30 a.m. to speak about issues the Kingdom is facing at the first of the year’s legislative breakfasts.

Fueled by coffee and a breakfast spread that included fresh fruit, pastries, and savory egg dishes, nearly 40 people prepared to hear what the representatives had to say.

Senators Robert “Bobby” Starr, of North Troy, and Newport’s Russ Ingalls kicked off the event.  Mr. Starr spoke about flooding and the economy while Mr. Ingalls touched on property issues, drug use, and demographic challenges…
