Monday night voters of the Lake Region Union Elementary-Middle School District decided, by a narrow margin, to reaffirm the district’s $17.4-million budget. The vote, after more than two hours of discussion and balloting, was 187 in favor of keeping the previously accepted budget and 174 against.
By a unanimous voice vote those at the meeting decided not to reconsider a separate item that allocates $500,000 to a capital reserve fund intended to pay for maintenance and repairs for school buildings.
