Drugged driving and car theft charges in court

NEWPORT — Gerald Davignon, 32, of Morgan pled innocent to a felony charge of driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol and drugs (DUI-3), driving while his license was under suspension DLS, and possession of cocaine.

Judge Rory Thibault, sitting in the Criminal Division of Orleans County Superior Court ordered him to be released on conditions.

In an affidavit Orleans County Sheriff’s Deputy Daniel Locke said that around 9:19 p.m. on January 9, he got a call saying a man was passed out in a running car parked in the Dollar General parking lot in North Troy.  While he was headed from Derby to investigate, Deputy Locke said, he got a message saying the driver woke up and drove to a nearby home.

The affidavit says a man came out of the house, and got into the car which drove a short distance before stopping.  The second man got out of the car and walked away, while the driver went back to sleep behind the wheel of the running auto …
