In advance of a scheduled site visit to the J. Hutchins asphalt plant in Irasburg, neighbors bombarded the District Seven Environmental Commission with complaints about odors, smoke, and traffic from the facility.
The commission scheduled a visit for the morning of October 8 in preparation for hearings on amending the plant’s Act 250 permit scheduled for later this year. Under the rules set out by the commission, those who wished to go on the tour had to sign up in advance and demonstrate compliance with COVID prevention regulations.
