NEWPORT — As of the end of business Friday Newport will be without even an interim city manager. In an unexpected move, the council voted Monday to fire current Interim City Manager Karen Geraghty from the post she held since June.
Ms. Geraghty was named to the position shortly after the departure of former City Manager Laura Dolgin who held the job for seven years.
At the start of Monday’s special council meeting City Council President John Wilson moved to add a surprise item to the meeting’s agenda — consideration of the employment status of Interim City Manager Karen Geraghty….
